BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — Battle Creek officials are investigating after a suspicious fire at a Dollar General.
Crews were dispatched to the store at 240 East Roosevelt Avenue around 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon where they found the blaze contained near the loading dock area.
They believe it started on a pallet loaded with cardboard at the rear of the store.
Fire crews were able to quickly douse the flames and keep them from spreading to the interior of the store.
Nobody was injured, but they are calling the fire suspicious.
Investigators estimate the damage at about $5,000, all to the exterior of the building.
