BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — One man is recovering from a pair of gunshot wounds and another has been arrested after a shooting near Hazel and Hanover in Battle Creek Friday night.
Battle Creek Police were dispatched to an address on Hanover, where the victim was found hiding behind a garage, just in case the shooter returned.
Officers determined the 25-year-old victim had suffered two gunshot wounds to the thigh and applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. He was taken to Bronson Battle Creek by Lifecare and stabilized and then transferred to Bronson Methodist in Kalamazoo for Emergency Surgery.
He was admitted in serious but stable condition.
Witnesses gave police a good description of the gunman as he ran from the shooting. They found a man matching the description in the back seat of a car leaving the area and detained him.
The 22-year-old was sweating and had a cut on his arm, but they did not find a gun. He was arrested for assault with intent to murder.
