(WKZO AM/FM) — Just as commuters will see more police cruisers on the road during holiday weekends, boaters should be just as cautious on the water.
June 29th through July 1st, local officials will be on the lookout for drunk or impaired boaters through their National Boating Under The Influence Awareness and Enforcement Campaign.
They’re calling it “Operation Dry Water” reminding Michiganders that it is illegal to operate a vessel with a Blood Alcohol level of .08 or higher, just like a vehicle.
Officials say alcohol is the leading factor in recreational boater deaths, and this campaign is their goal to keep vacationers safe this 4th of July.
