COVERT (WKZO AM/FM) –A shoreline family is mourning the loss of their 12-year-old after she left on Tuesday to spend the summer with her father in Chicago, and by Friday morning, she was the latest victim in the Windy City’s gun violence.
Shen’Nyah O’Flynn of Covert was hit in the neck by a stray bullet, as she was getting out of a car with a baby in her arms, coming home from a relative’s graduation party.
Police say they don’t know who did it, or who they were shooting act, and don’t even have a description of the gunman. A male relative was hit in the foot, but will recover.
Officials at Covert schools are arranging to have grief counselors available when summer school starts next week.
