St. JOSEPH COUNTY (WKZO AM/FM) — A man who allegedly ran a red light in St. Joseph County and collided with another vehicle has been arrested and jailed for multiple driving offenses.
The Sheriff’s Department says 20-year-old Juan Hernandez-Espinoza shot through the stop light at Wilbur Road and U.S. 131 just before 11 a.m. Thursday and hit a mini-van driven by 66-year-old Gary Russell.
The min-van flew into the ditch where it rolled over onto the legs of a back seat passenger who had been ejected from the vehicle.
32-year-old Tiffany Blum was airlifted by AirCare to Bronson Methodist in Kalamazoo, the two other occupants of the mini-van were taken there by ambulance.
Sheriff Bradley Balk says they may file additional charges against Espinoza as their investigation continues.
