LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo native Rachael Denhollander is calling for an apology from Interim MSU President John Engler.
Engler suggested that Denhollander, a Nassar survivor and now lawyer, is taking kickbacks from some of the trial lawyers involved in the MSU settlement.
The allegation was made by Engler in an e-mail to his aide, Carol Viventi, and was obtained through the freedom of Information Act.
Denhollander calls it a “vile character attack” and a lie.
MSU Trustee Dianne Byrum called it “completely unacceptable,” “tone deaf,” and “hurtful.”
But Denhollander says if Byrum feels that way she should do something about Engler.
Denhollander is also vowing to continue to work on legislators to pass an extension of the statute of limitations that would apply to all sexual abuse victims, not just the Nassar survivors.
The State Senate will take up the rest of the House approved bills in the sex abuse package this fall.
