KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A wanted Kalamazoo man is now in custody after some help from K9 Axl.
A Kalamazoo Public Safety officer was on foot patrol conducting routine business checks in the 200 block of East Michigan Avenue around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday when the officer noticed a man stealing gardening equipment from a business.
The suspect fled on a bicycle toward North Church and Ransom Streets and officials brought in K9 Axl to track down the robber.
Axl located the 39-year-old suspect behind a residence and he was booked into the Kalamazoo County Jail for parole violations.
Additional charges for larceny and resisting and obstructing a police officer are also pending.
Axl is a recent addition to the public safety family and has been in service for two months.
