KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Loy Norrix’s Graduation is tonight and Kalamazoo Central’s ceremony is tomorrow night at Wings Event Center. Kalamazoo Schools will be holding over a dozen graduation ceremonies this month, some of them will be for alternative schools, some will be “passing up” ceremonies for Middle School students heading off to High School this fall.
The big ones will be this week and Superintendent Michael Rice says in keeping with beefed up school security, in light of the shootings at Parland and Santa Fe, they plan to screen people with metal detectors.
That means you will want to leave pocket knives any other weapons at home. They will also screen for air-horns balloons and big signs that might block the view of others.
They are asking that you leave large bags and backpacks in the car too.
