HASTINGS (WKZO AM/FM) — The actions of a Michigan State Police trooper who shot at a Middleville man back in April have been justified.
A Barry County prosecutor says Trooper David Williams acted in self-defense during the incident that occurred in the parking lot of the Thornapple Valley Church on M-43 near Hastings back on April 2nd.
Williams found Ryan Miller, who was wanted on multiple felony warrants, at the church and shot him in the shoulder and foot after Miller pulled out what appeared to be a handgun.
His weapon was later found to be a BB gun, but officials say the trooper had no wrongdoing.
Miller has been arraigned on charges unrelated to the shooting and now faces additional charges for the incident with a hearing scheduled for June 6th.
