KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — The erratic driver who was racing east on I-94, allegedly smashing into other vehicles, has now been charged.
24-year-old Dante Batiste has been formally charged with receiving and possessing stolen property, assaulting a police officer, and reckless driving.
Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department got a number of calls about an erratic driver forcing cars off the road, in some case actually hitting them.
Batiste allegedly stole the white Ford Explorer from Waterviliet and was forced to pull over near the 9th Street exit along I-94 late Monday afternoon.
When police arrived, they say he refused to cooperate and they had to break the window to pull him out of the Explorer.
Batiste’s bond was set at $10,000.
