KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Two Kalamazoo men are behind bars after a domestic dispute led to gunfire on the city’s Northside.
Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers were called to the 800 block of Staples Avenue around 12:45 p.m. Monday after receiving reports of a man shooting several rounds into the air with a shotgun.
The man then retreated back into his home, before Public Safety arrived.
After an extended stand-off and negotiations, the suspect surrendered.
He was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant, but they plan to seek multiple gun felony charges against the man, including possession of a stolen firearm, possession by a felon and possession while intoxicated, and reckless discharge.
Another man was arrested on a domestic assault charge and police later found a rifle, a stolen shotgun, and several boxes of ammunition inside the home.
