KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo’s Fire Marshall is looking for the cause of a house fire in Kalamazoo.
Fire officials were called to the 3300 block of Brookmont Drive near Mount Olivet Road just after 1 p.m. Sunday.
A family member came home to discover the fire in the basement, and by the time firefighters arrived the smoke and flames were visible from the exterior with heavy smoke billowing from the one story home.
Sgt. Justin Wonders says it took Public Safety officers about a half hour to bring the fire under control.
The American Red Cross responded to help the family with short term needs.
