KENT COUNTY LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — It appears the 100th Street Bridge has claimed another truck load, scattering large containers for some distance down the highway, after the bridge span sheared them off the back of a flatbed.
This is the 8th hit and the 9th time there has been a traffic issue this year, depending on how you count them.
MDOT Officials say the load was too tall and the driver was driving without a permit. A passenger car was hit and another one struck one of the containers. If there were any injuries they were not serious.
MDOT Is talking about a project that may lower the roadway below the bridge to give them a few extra inches, but not until this fall. A full rebuild is tentatively scheduled for 2020.
