KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — There could be as many as seven ballot items on the November ballot, with groups promoting recreational marijuana and battling gerrymandering already submitting their signatures and groups still collecting signatures to put a list of voter reform issues, clean energy, and wage and workplace benefits measures on the fall ballot.
The Kalamazoo City Commission received complaints from petition signature gatherers saying they are not only getting kicked out of private places but public places as well.
Often merchants don’t ask them to leave, they just call police.
Michael Dwyer says by making their jobs difficult. He received sympathy from some city commissioners who have been in his shoes.
Vice Mayor Erin Knott says any such ordinance would have to be drafted by the attorney and carefully considered first to avoid unattended consequences.
