KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Voters have given a ringing endorsement to school bond issues throughout the area, most of them winning by wide margins.
In Kalamazoo voters approved the largest bond issue ever requested by the district by three to one, with 76% voting yes and 24% voting no.
Voters in the Gull Lake and Climax Scotts school districts also approved the funding questions they put before voters by smaller, but still double digit margins. That includes building improvements and a new Middle School Gym for Climax Scotts.
Battle Creek voters also approved a renewal of their sinking fund bonds.
The only funding question that lost was a request for additional funding for fire protection by the homeowners in Takonsha Township in Calhoun County.
The one thing all the elections had in common was low voter turnout. In Kalamazoo only about one in ten registered voters took the time to vote Tuesday.
