(MATTESON TOWNSHIP) – The Branch County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the discovery of a dead mans body early Friday afternoon in Matteson Township in the area of Parham and Lindley Roads.
Branch County Undersheriff Keith Eichler (EYEK-ler) says a farmer tilling some ground discovered the body in a wooded area.
A call was made to Branch County 911 at about 1:10 p.m..
It’s not known how long the body had been at that location or how old the man was.
Eichler says an autopsy will be conducted on Saturday in Grand Rapids to determined the identity of the man and if there was any foul play involved in the death.
Investigators cleared the scene at about 4:30 p.m.. The Sheriff’s Department got assistance from Bronson Police and Branch County Medical Examiner Doctor Troy Davis.
