KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Jury selection will enter a second day in the Charles Pickett Jr. trial as it may be more difficult than usual to find unbiased jurors in a case that received so much media coverage.
It made headlines for months. Pickett is charged with five counts of 2nd degree murder, 5 counts of driving intoxicated causing death and four more counts of reckless driving causing impairment, for striking 9 members of a bicycle club pedaling north on Westnedge in Cooper Township.
The media has been barred from recording this portion of the proceeding to protect the anonymity of the jurors, but we are the only radio station in S.W. Michigan to be granted access to the trial.
