CHICAGO (WKZO AM/FM) — Motorists across West Michigan will notice the jump at the pump this weekend, but it’s not because of summer gasoline or refinery maintenance, or even because it’s the first nice weekend we have seen all year.
It’s not a local thing…it’s a national thing.
Gas Buddy’s Patrick DeHaan says prices in Kalamazoo are hovering right around 2.95 a gallon and will likely inching closer and go over the three-dollar mark soon because of crude oil prices.
The problems in Syria, other troubles in the middle east and the fact that the U.S. is continuing to export record amounts of crude oil, it’s all causing inventories to drop and prices to soar.
The busy summer travel season is still ahead.
