UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM) — Bankruptcy for the Madison-Wisconsin-based Bon-Ton stores will hit close to home.
The company announced yesterday plans to close all of its stores, which include Younkers, Bergner’s, Boston Store, Carson’s, Elder-Beerman, and Herberger’s.
Younkers has stores in Holland, Muskegon, Grandville and Coldwater as well as some further east in Michigan.
Bon-Ton’s assets are being bought by two companies, the Great American Group, and Tiger Capital Group
Bon-Ton’s CEO Bill Tracy said in a statement said he was “incredibly grateful to all of our associates for their dedicated service to Bon-Ton and to our millions of loyal customers who we have had the pleasure to serve as their hometown store for more than 160 years.”
The bankruptcy means all the company’s holdings, including stores e-commerce and mobile platforms under the Bon-Ton umbrella will remain open for closing sales.
