PORTAGE (WKZO AM/FM) — Two men have survived a collision with a freight train.
Portage Public Safety says the driver, a 55-year-old Greenville man drove a white box-truck with a passenger on board, right into the path of the Grand Elk Freight train after he turned off Shaver onto Melody Lane, just after 11:00 a.m. Tuesday.
Witnesses say the crossing lights were flashing.
The driver was taken to Bronson Emergency for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The passenger, a 37-year-old man from Wyoming was treated at the scene and released.
The truck was totaled. It’s being investigated and a citation is likely.
