LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Michigan Governor Rick Snyder has released his school safety plan, which quickly drew fire from law enforcement and gun control organizations for not going nearly far enough.
Synder’s plan call for spending about $20 million to retrofit school buildings, train educators to spot troubled children, and increase funding to the OK2Say teen tip line.
There is no mention of a law enforcement proposal to put a School Resource Officer in every school, or Red Flag legislation that would let police temporarily take guns away from people who were showing signs of violence.
The Governor’s proposal is just one of several proposed by legislative Democrats, Republicans, and special interest groups.
