UNDATED (WKZO AM/FM) — The weekend storm was everything forecasters said it would be, and it isn’t over yet. We could see an inch and a half of snow by the time this massive storm system moves east.
It has dropped just about every kind of precipitation there is on Michigan, and cause just about every kind of storm related damage across the U.S. in the past few days, except for sharks.
The weather is being blamed for cancelling flights at Gerald R. Ford International, tipping a Coopersville Firetruck onto its side and injuring four firefighters, shutting down the Mackinac Bridge because of high winds, and suspending operations of Enbridge’s Line 5 oil pipeline because of 12 foot waves.
It also caused its share of slide-off, but there probably would have been even more if the storm had hit during the work week.
Dozens of organizations canceled events on Saturday and Dozens of churches delayed or cancelled services Sunday.
Roger Morgenstern at Consumers Energy says they have had to call for reinforcements as they battle to restore power, bringing in repair crews from Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia and Ohio
He says their goal is to wrap things up late Monday night but miss that target if more outages erupt today.
