BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — Battle Creek Investigators say one of the two teenagers shot early Sunday morning has now died at Bronson Methodist in Kalamazoo after suffering a bullet wound to the back of the head, and they are now handling it as an open murder investigation.
Det. Todd Elliott says they are releasing the name of the victim, 17-year-old Marcus Flannagan, hoping it will shake loose information explaining why Flanagan may have been on Merit Street at 3am Sunday morning with two 15-year-olds.
One other teen was wounded and the third was not hit. They apparently aren’t cooperating with police.
Sgt. Elliott says they have now talked to the homeowner, saying he is no longer a suspect but remains a person of interest.
The name of the 15-year old who was wounded has not been released. He is in stable condition at Bronson Battle Creek.
