PORTAGE (WKZO AM/FM) — The City of Portage will keep its title as “Tree City USA” for a 27th year in a row.
The National Arbor Day Foundation awarded Portage for their urban forestry efforts and for caring for over 500 trees last year.
Unfortunately weather is causing problems for the Portage celebration.
Portage city officials say the annual Green-A-Thon community event to celebrate Earth Day will not take place Saturday morning due to the forecast.
There is currently no alternate date.
This is the first time in the ten-year history that the event has been called off.
