KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — It’s been about a month since a Kalamazoo woman who is trying to avoid deportation took up residence at the First Congregational Church, which is giving her shelter. It’s an act of civil disobedience that has the support of Kalamazoo Mayor Bobby Hopewell.
The First Congregational Church has made room for Saheeda Nadeem, giving her sanctuary from immigration agents.
Hopewell sent a letter to the church, urging them to continue doing whatever they can to help her avoid deportation back to Pakistan, a country she left as a teen.
