BRANCH COUNTY (WKZO AM/FM) — A Branch County man is being treated at the burn center at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo following a house fire on U.S. 12 east of Quincy.
Quincy Fire Chief Michael Sherman says the other occupant of the home got out and called 911 at about 2:00 a.m. Thursday, reporting that one person was still trapped inside.
The man was found in the living room of the home with severe burns. That’s where it’s believed the fire started.
The victim was flown straight to Bronson Hospital by AirCare.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Michigan State Police Fire Marshall’s Office but Sherman said it does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
U.S. 12 was closed for almost two hours because of the blaze.
