(WKZO AM/FM) — The Better Business Bureau is warning residents about a new and confusing phone scam.
President and CEO of BBB serving West Michigan Phil Catlett says if you get a phone call and the caller ID has your number on it, do not pick it up.
Scammers are trying to trick people by “spoofing” numbers to come up as your own, a popular company or government agency, or a number that begins with the same 6-digits to seem local.
Catlett say residents should never completely trust their caller ID and let it go to voicemail.
Scams can be reported to the scam tracker at BBB.org.
