PAW PAW (WKZO AM/FM) — The Prosecutor’s office in Van Buren County has fine-tuned the list of charges he intends to bring against a 15-year-old boy who planned to attack Paw Paw High School with guns and bombs.
Some charges were reduced, a few new ones added and a few dropped now that they have gathered more accurate information in the case.
The teen confessed to his parents and turned himself into police after a change of heart.
The teen could face up to 28-years if convicted on the ten bomb and weapons charges, but only if he is tried as an adult. That question has not yet been resolved and was supposed to be the main issue addressed at yesterday’s hearing. It’s been postponed to give both attorneys time to prepare arguments.
They say because he never actually warned anyone of his plans until he turned himself in, they can’t charge him with making terrorist threats. That count was dropped.
