KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo man charged with killing a baby has been bound over to stand trial for felony murder.
11-month old Jaceyon Downey was left in his care.
Bryant Rolland alerted his wife to the fact that there seemed to be something wrong, the baby was rushed to emergency, and later died at the hospital.
The Medical Examiner testified that the infant died from several blows to the head, not the kind that would be received in a fall or by accident.
Detectives testified that Rolland changed his story when he was interviewed about the baby’s death, first blaming the infant’s older sibling for pushing the baby down the stairs, and then telling different versions.
He was ordered to stand trial for felony murder and other charges. He is being held without bond at the Kalamazoo County Jail.
