FILLMORE TOWNSHIP, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) — A two-vehicle crash early Thursday on M-40 killed Holland-area resident Julie Ann Shaffer, 30, according to the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene just after 4:00 a.m.
The initial investigation indicates the truck driver, identified by police as a 60-year-old male from the South Haven area, was headed south on M-40 when the truck hit the passenger side of a Ford Escape, headed west on 140th Avenue.
The impact sent the truck in a field southwest of the intersection and the Escape ended up on the east side shoulder of the roadway, according to an Allegan County Sheriff’s statement emailed to media.
The truck driver had non-life threatening injuries.
Police believe the Ford failed to stop at the intersection; the crash remains under investigation.
Allegan Sheriff’s deputies were aided at the scene by AMR ambulance; the Overisel Township Fire Department and the Hamilton Fire Department.
