UNDATED (WKZO AM/FM)– Immigration agents spent four days this week in Southwest Michigan rounding up foreign nationals for deportation. They took 14 men and two women into custody, including nine who had previous convictions and two who had been deported before and reentered.
The arrests were made in Berrien, Kalamazoo, Van Buren and St. Joseph Counties.
The convictions were for anything from a drunk driving arrest, to domestic abuse, to assault and carrying a concealed weapon. Four will be federally prosecuted and may do time before they are deported.
That leaves five who are being deported without having done anything wrong, other than be here without permission.
