LITCHFIELD, MI (WTVB) – One person is dead following a fire Wednesday in downtown Litchfield in Hillsdale County.
The Hillsdale Daily News reports the fire went through a vacant downtown business that had multiple apartment units in the building and that the dead person was found after the fire had been put out.
It’s hoped the identity of the fatal victim will be confirmed once an autopsy is performed.
Litchfield firefighters were assisted by crews from Allen, Homer and Jonesville.
It’s not known how the fire got started. The Michigan State Police Fire Marshall Division is investigating.
