KENT COUNTY (WKZO AM/FM) — After testimony from a teenager who claimed he witnessed the rape of 15-year-old Mujey Dumbuya four times, Quinn James has been bound over to stand trial for criminal sexual conduct.
While the 42-year-old James has not been charged with her murder, he remains under investigation for the crime.
17-year-old Daquarius Bibb testified that he held the girls hand as she was being assaulted and each time she cried. He told the court that James, had “choked him out” and he thought he was creepy.
The autopsy report suggests that Dumbuya may have been strangled.
The bond for James was increased from $100,000 to $250,000. When the defense objected to the higher bond, the judge noted that Dumbuya was killed after James met the lower bail.
New investigations show that James is also familiar with the Kalamazoo neighborhood where Dumbaya’s body was found in late January.
He apparently grew up in the West Douglas area and for a while his mother lived just down the street from the spot where the 16-year-old was found by hikers.
