KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Downtown Kalamazoo will be going green this weekend for the 18th Annual Kalamazoo St. Patrick’s Day parade.
In a culmination of community members and almost 40 organizations involved, the downtown parade will kick off with the Kalamazoo Pipe Band at 11 a.m. on St. Patrick’s Day.
But instead of a one individual as the parade Grand Marshall, Margaret Strzelecki from the Irish American Club of Kalamazoo says they’re doing something new this year.
The organization is naming the Kalamazoo Promise as the Grand Marshall for all the support it gives to Kalamazoo students and familes.
The parade begins on the Kalamazoo Mall at Michigan Avenue and follows south onto South Burdick Street, west onto Cedar Street, and ends at the former Knights of Columbus hall on Cedar.
