BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) –Battle Creek Firefighters had a busy Saturday morning. They were first dispatched to a detached garage that was burning at 151-Union Street at about 2:40 am.
Arriving crews discovered a garage that was fully engulfed in flames that was threatening to set fire to another garage.
They were able to quickly put out the flames but the garage and the automobile stored inside are a total loss, estimated to be at around $35,000. The cause has not been determined.
Less than an hour later, fire crews were dispatched to a suspicious fire at 51 Blanch Street and found flames coming from the first and second story of the home, which had been boarded up, was vacant and has no utilities.
That is the reason its considered to be suspicious.
They estimate the damage to the home and its contents at $32,000.
