LANSING,MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The backers of a legislative package targeting sex abuse in the wake of the Larry Nassar Scandal wasted no time getting the bills on a fast track in Lansing.
The ten bill package was introduced Monday, and by the end of Tuesday, it had already cleared its first Senate Committee and was headed to the floor.
Senator Margaret O’Brien deployed her most effective spokesperson, Survivor Rachel Denhollander of Kalamazoo, to give the bills momentum.
Denhollander argued that the time to act was now and urged lawmakers not to add amendments that might slow the bills down.
