KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo Public Safety Department has released the name of the man whose body was found by a kyacker in the floodwater near a business along Riverview Drive on Sunday. Capt. Shannon Bagley says that 48-year old James Jackson’s family has been notified of his passing, and that the Department extends its condolences.
The investigation continues. They say that his car was found submerged inot far from where his body was found in the deep water near the rail viaduct and the intersection of East Michigan and Riverview. An autopsy was scheduled for today, but no information from that has been released so far.

KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – An autopsy is scheduled Monday on a body found floating in floodwaters near a business on Riverview Drive near the rail viaduct in Kalamazoo.
Authorities hope the Kalamazoo County Medical Examiner will be able to determine how the 48-year-old man died. His name has not been released.
The body was reportedly found by a kayaker who was taking advantage of the high water late Sunday morning.
The water is reportedly so deep at the rail viaduct that there are two cars completely submerged still in the water.
Kalamazoo Public Safety says that the car belonging to the victim was found submerged nearby. .
They say they don’t think the death was suspicious, but it remains under investigation.
