LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A more potent pepper spray could soon be available in Michigan if the state Senate and the Governor also approve a bill passed in the state House Thursday.
Currently Michigan only allows a pepper spray with 10% active ingredient. The bill would raise that to the current federal limit of 18%.
Sponsor Michelle Hoitenga of Manton says she packs a gun, but says not all women want to do that and an effective pepper spray is the next best thing.
The bill would also allow the spray to be spiked with an ultra-violet dye that is invisible to the eye, but can be used later to identify an attacker with a UV light.
