LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — Senator John Proos is encouraging Southwest Michigan residents give the gift of life today.
Valentine’s Day is also National Organ Donor Day and a way to raise awareness about Michigan’s state organ donor registry.
Senator Proos says thousands of Americans are in need of a lifesaving organ transplant, including more than 3,300 people in Michigan.
On average, 88 lives are saved each day by an organ transplant in the U.S., but 22 people die each day waiting for an available organ.
Residents can sign up to become a donor by visiting any Michigan secretary of state office or by visiting michigan.gov/sos.
