LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — They deny it, but a number of Michigan House Democrats say a church in Riverview, Michigan is offering conversion therapy in a series of workshops that cost $200.
They accuse the Metro City Church of claiming they can take a teen that is questioning their sexual orientation, and turn them straight.
State Rep. Jon Hoadley says they would like to see the Attorney General investigate whether it’s a violation of the State’s Consumer Protection act. He says it can actually harm anyone who goes through such a program. Hoadley says legislation has been proposed that would ban any licensed professional from offering conversion therapy.
Pastor Jeremy Schossau posted a video response claiming they only offer conversation, not conversion and says they have gotten death threats since announcing the workshops.
