KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Contrary to what you may have read or heard, there will be no drilling for oil or gas at Scotts Mill Park by Wolverine Oil.
Commissioners blamed inaccurate news reports based on social media for the misinformation spreading in the community.
Board Chair Stephanie Moore announced at the beginning of the meeting that the Parks Board discussed it but there was no agreement.
Despite that reassurance 21 citizens came forward to oppose drilling, to warn commissioners that Wolverine Oil is persistent and they will be back with a better offer.
Several commissioners said they have gotten the message and resolutions may come forward banning drilling around all County Parks.
