KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo City Commission has declared this National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day to coincide with a national promotion on Wednesday of the growing problem for African Americans .
Statistics show that while they may make-up only 13% of the population, over half of all new cases involve blacks.
New treatments are available that can make it possible to live a normal life, and may eventually make it possible to eradicate the disease, but first they have to stop it from spreading, and that means everyone at risk must be tested.
