EAST LANSING (WZKO AM/FM) –John Engler said today (Monday) would be his first day on the job, but he was already busy working his connections in the State Legislature last week.
Just hours after he was appointed by the board, he was meeting with the top four leaders in the legislature to talk about cooperating to find the solutions at MSU, and to talk them out of trying to unseat the Trustees or withhold funding from MSU in upcoming budget sessions.
Engler said he was hired for specific reasons. For now it appears the Board felt they needed a politician more than an academic.
Apparently he didn’t get a chance to chat with the Attorney General, who sent in a special squad of detectives and lawyers with search warrants to obtain documents from the offices of the person who was said to be Larry Nassar’s boss at MSU.
Engler called the raid a cheap political stunt.
The Attorney General’s office has created a hotline for anyone who believes they have credible information linked to the investigation at MSU, its handling of Larry Nassar’s sexual assaults and other related matters.
It can be reached by Phone or online through the end of the investigation. The phone line will be manned during office hours but information can be sent by e-mail at anytime.
