EAST LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) –The Faculty Senate at Michigan State will take a vote of no confidence in the Board of Trustees at their next meeting, in the wake of their decision to hire former Governor John Engler as their interim President last week.
The Faculty Senate’s Academic Congress put the item on their agenda Saturday.
In the supporting letter for the decision, they say Engler has no academic experience, no experience mitigating sexual abuse problems and issues and is the wrong gender for best being able to deal with the issue.
They say they are also disappointed because they were left out of the process of picking the interim President…suggesting “that a month-long or even semester-long process be taken to hire an Interim President, so that all members of the MSU community, from undergraduate students to graduate students to staff to faculty to deans, could provide input and guidance in a transparent fashion to the Board of Trustees.”
They are now trying to schedule an emergency meeting to take the vote.
