KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo Teen will be spending Super Bowl weekend in jail, maybe longer after he was caught with a gun while he was out on bond for a previous assault and gun charge.
The 19-year-old was a passenger in a car that was pulled over for a traffic violation along south Park Street late Friday night.
The PSO immediately smelled marijuana when he approached the car. A search turned up a small amount of grass on the driver, and a handgun under the seat of the passenger.
The driver was released and it will be up to the prosecutor to decide whether to charge him for the grass.
The passenger was booked into the County Jail and when he is formally charged this time, the bond will likely be set much higher.
