GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO AM/FM) — A vigil was held in Grand Rapids Thursday evening for the teen who is now believed to be a victim of homicide.
The body of 16-year-old Mujey Dumbuya was found in a wooded area along a trial near the West Douglas Neighborhood Sunday.
Her family immigrated from Sierra Leone which underwent a violent civil war and her Aunt says they thought they had escaped such threats.
Her friends and family say she was not the kind of girl who would run away from home, describing her as a happy person, a normal teen who got up for school, left home and a week ago never made it to the bus stop.
The vigil was held near that bus stop Thursday night.
They are urging anyone who knows anything about her disappearance or where she was last weekend, to come forward.
