COMSTOCK (WKZO AM/FM) — Legislation renaming the stretch of I-94 that passes through Comstock as the Chief Ed Switalski Memorial Highway is on its way to the Governor’s desk after passage in the State House.
Sponsor Dave Maturen says it’s the same bill drafted by Senator Margaret O’Brien that has already cleared the Senate.
He hopes it will do more than act as just a memorial, and remind people to drive carefully.
Switalski was killed responding to a call on the Interstate when he was struck by a speeding driver using a cellphone last June.
