BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — A larceny suspect who greeted the State Police Fugitive Task Force with a handgun in each hand as they crashed through his door at Tree Top Ridge Apartments, has been shot to death.
Lt. Chuck Christensen identified the suspect as 37-year-old Joshua Dale Prough. They were there with warrants to arrest him for safe cracking and gun felonies.
Christensen says three troopers and one Battle Creek Officer are on administrative leave until the completion of a shooting review to determine if the use of lethal force was justified.
Kristen Smith, who lived next door says she is reluctant to go back to her unit after she was nearly hit by stray bullets.
Prough reportedly suffered from mental issues, has had previous arrests and was once found incompetent to stand trial.
