KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — The annual Martin Luther King Day march from The WMU campus to Downtown Kalamazoo became a bus ride Monday because of the bone chilling cold and the fear that many sidewalks between campus and the downtown park would be snow covered and treacherous.
At Martin Luther King Jr. Park on Rose Street, at the statue of the civil rights martyr they sang and heard from WMU President Edward Montgomery, City Commissioner Don Cooney and heard a poem about injustice delivered by Sid Ellis Jr.
It was just one of many observances of Martin Luther King Jr. Day held in the community, and in towns all over the U.S.
