SOUTH HAVEN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – One person was hurt and several dogs perished in a fire at a South Haven-area manufactured residence community just after dawn on Sunday.
According to South Haven Area Emergency Services, crews that were dispatched to the Lakeshore Mobile Home Park off of 16th Avenue just before 8:00 a.m. came to a unit that was fully engulfed in flames. The unnamed occupant was able to escape the flames but was taken to Bronson South Haven Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, and a unannounced number of canines that had been in the residence were apparently killed.
No cause of the fire or a dollar amount of the estimated damage caused was immediately determined as the incident remains under investigation.
